Zwan - Lyric
Zwan were almost irredeemably terrible. I still find it quite amazing that some of the names involved in the project were actually involved. Then again, it was the early-2000's and we didn't know how far off-track Billy Corgan would go. Lyric isn't a particularly interesting song. I'm usually a fan of Billy's vocals but I prefer them backed up by James Iha's guitar and ideally with Jimmy Chamberlin smashing the drums.
The b-side is an oddity, in that it's a live recording of David Pajo covering a Bob Dylan song on his own. The question is then, is this really a Zwan song? Sure he was in the band, but my understanding of every band Billy Corgan has been in is that the other musicians are just there to do what he tells them. So the b-side is really just a Papa M song billed as Zwan. Strange.
The one thing I will say for this 7" - listening to it now takes me right back to the summer of 2003, which was a pretty cool time if I remember correctly. So that's nice.
